DJ in Second Life – Is that fun?

The question is very easy to answer: YAY it is!!!

I did my first Real Life DJ-set back in 1980. And what a bliss for me to start spinning “vinyls” at that point. I had the hole 80’s in head of me, with so much music to play and mix hard with steady beats. And even though I have played so many records from the 80’s, I still find pieces that I’ve missed. With 2 turntables and a 3 channel mixer I started to enjoy my closest friends and their friends. Then I got professional and started touring around Europe (too much Ibiza hahaha) and even Russia and met so many fantastic people to enjoy. After nearly 10 fun years I got tired of it, combed myself and got a normal day job (instead of sleeping all day) and threw the mixers in the drawer.

But 2007 I discovered Second Life and YAY for that. A whole new world to enjoy!!!. Instead of travelling around the globe, now I could do that from my studio at home. Lives were good again. For 3 years I have played on and off in Second life at crazy places like Dance Island (still the laggiest place in SL), to small obscure clubs with only a handful of people. Both arenas are so much fun doing, even though the set differs a lot. At a huge club you‘re on your own doing your “DJ-Set” and the huge kick is the perfect mix. At the smaller ones, request is the leading light, which is a whole other ball part. But my main goal is to enjoy and make people come together.

During my time as a DJ in SL I have come across so many good people and of course some bastards as well. But I must say that the latter are fewer than I thought. And there are thousands of DJ wannabes out there too, but as long as they enjoy people and listen to the “floor” they will live through the night.

I have only one KTS (Key to success), LISTEN TO THE FLOOR!!!

No matter WERE you’re playing, HOW you play, always listen to the “Voice” of the people on the floor. SOOOO many DJ’s do their shit and forget this, cause they're just haunting for the perfect mix. And they will will fail (at least that night). Then of course it will help if you know your basics.

Hugs from Apollon

Tune for you this time is a classic blend between Visage and Kent made by myself. This is actually the first one ever made with them both in the same set. Enjoy!!!
